Your Shape Fitness Evolved was released by UBISOFT on November 4, 2010. This is totally an immersive experience in the GYM or open garden where trainers come and teach you. There are also some cool gym games which take you to kind of hi-tech virtual world where you kick the bricks or play the hula loop or hold the falling bricks from the sky and store in left right compartments.

Amazing part is that Kinect camera can track your bone structure and recommend you corrections the way you are standing or moving your body. Depending on how correctly you are performing it shows percentage of perfection and accordingly gives you ranks and calorie burn.

Primarily there are three sections

  1. Personal Training – One to one training programs
  2. Fitness Class – Classes that teach sequences of moves based on Zen Cardio Boxing and more

I played XBox 360 with Kinect controller for 3 days. Every day for 1 hour. What I build is mild muscle pain around all parts of my body. This really gives you great workout. Each game expects you to move your hands forward and backward, jump or sit down. And at the end of the game if you see your snaps you really don’t realize that you did those so nicely.

These are various sections inside the game.

  • 20,000 Leaks : You are in glass cage and sea creatures comes and break your glass, your job is to fix those holes with your hands and feet.
  • River Rush: You are riding an inflated boat which is moving with flow of water. Your job is to collect maximum pins by moving left or right or by jumping.
  • Rally Ball: This is kind of mix of penalty goal in football and bowling. So your job is to hit the ball with hand and foot so that hits target in front of you in the form of boxes or multi ball pins.
  • Reflex Ridge: In this section you have to jump, move left or right or sit down to avoid obstacles. Jumping and pulling bars speeds up the movement of your machine.
  • Space Pop: You get the feeling of zero gravity. You can fly by waving your both arms. You need to pop the bubbles with your body parts.

At end of each game you are warded medal which can be Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum. You can collect these medals to earn achievements.

AC size plug with XBox 360 in India

One of the worst thing Microsoft did while launching XBox 360 in India is, they provided Air-Condition (AC) size 3 pin plug. I don’t think anybody in India will have such a huge socket near the LCD television where XBox can be plugged. I’ve to get a new gang box 3-pin socket inside the cabinet to attach XBox near the LCD. Ideally regular 3 pin or 2 pin plug should be sufficient since adapter does conversion of voltage and generates only 12v of current for console.

Now that it was quite clear that XBox 360 with Kinect is the choice. These were the driving factors for taking this decision.

Positive Points

  • Family Gaming – Microsoft is not having great collection of family gaming titles they seems serious previewing the titles.
  • Advances Motion Control – Kinect
  • Safer Gaming titles (No War, No fighting, No vulgar language)
  • HDMI port availability

Negative Points

  • Unavailability of Blue Ray Disks Player
  • You have to subscribe to XBox Live Gold to use Facebook/Twitter.
  • Each game title for Kinect Sensor costs around Rs. 2000 or more.

There are no outlets where Microsoft offers XBox 360 with Kinect over the counter. Luckily there is GAMES the shop in Mumbai. You can buy XBox 360 with Kinect in less than 5 minutes and bring home all excitement.

When you actually go for buying Microsoft XBox360 and Kinect, you realize there are some number of  options you have.

If you have old XBox Arcade, you can just by the Kinect Controller which costs you around Rs. 10,000/-.

If you don’t have XBox console you have option of buying XBox 360 with 4 GB flash memory and Kinect controller in same box. This will cost you around Rs. 23,000/-.

If you wish to have good space where you can save downloaded games,  videos, songs and photos, you can buy XBox 360 with 250 GB HDD. This without Kinect controller will cost you around Rs. 22,000/-. If you buy Kinect separately your total cost will go around Rs. 32,000/-.

Best deal to make for your money is to buy XBox 360 with 4 GB storage and Kinect in the same Box. This is what you get in the box.

XBox 360 with 4 GB storage have Hard Disk compartment underneath the console. You may add 250 GB storage later whenever you are out of space. It makes sense to buy 4GB version and later add the Hard Disk. This is because Flash memory is processed faster where as HDD Xbox model can be slow to boot.  So far HDD is not available in India for sale, but it should be available soon.

You may not enjoy XBox 360 with Kinect in case:

  • You don’t have High Definition LCD ( at least 1080p or 1080i)
  • You don’t have empty room space of at least 7 feet from LCD.
  • You don’t have space to keep Kinect sensor below the LCD or above the LCD.

Note: It is recommended to buy HDMI cable separately in case your LCD TV supports HDMI protocol. This gives you best graphics results.
